Virginia Brandt

Virginia Taylor Brandt, 87, of Rock Hill, SC, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 2, 1924, in Alexandria, Virginia, she was the widow of George Brandt, Jr., and the only child of the late Dr. Edna Crans Taylor and John Taylor. An avid reader, gardener, artist, and adorer of God's creatures, she was known for her keen intellect and exuberant personality. Virginia was a devoted parishioner of The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in Rock Hill, for more than fifty years. Survivors include her sons, Lee Brandt (Sharon) of Darien, GA, and George Brandt, III (Mary Nell) of Spartanburg, SC; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter in 2004, Marcia Brandt. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 1, 2012, at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, Rock Hill, SC, conducted by the Rev. Janice Melbourne Chalaron. A committal service will be in the Smythe Memorial Garden. A reception will follow in the church Parish Hall.
