Virginia Brown Bishop, 89, of Valley Falls, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born December 24, 1920 in Roanoke, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Durham Brown, Sr. and Bonnie VanDora Rice Brown and the wife of the late Arbyan H. Bishop, Sr. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Valley Falls and the Ruth Sunday School Class. A graduate of Boiling Springs High School, she retired from S & S Manufacturing Company as a supervisor and later retired from Burlington Industries. Survivors include a son, Arbyan Hilton Bishop, Jr. of Inman; two daughters, Judy Bishop Hurst of Tampa, FL and Miriam Bishop Eubanks and husband Ken of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Alane Simmons Russell and husband Rex of Spartanburg, Ginger Simmons Mathis and husband Tony of Inman, Mark Eubanks of Spartanburg, Shelley Hurst-Calle of Tampa, FL, and Brooke Eubanks Williams and husband Chris of Greenville, SC.; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Brown Snelgrove; and a son-in-law, Brian Simmons and his wife Janice Stephens Simmons of Inman. She was predeceased by two daughters, Vivian Bishop Simmons and Edith Marie Bishop; and a brother, J. D. Brown, Jr. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Private graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Glenn Rusher and the Rev. Ralph Doss. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Valley Falls, 8352 Valley Falls Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. The family is at their respective homes.
