Virgil West, Jr.

Virgil Dean West, Jr., 91, of Pauline, SC, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, at White Oak Estates-Spartanburg. Born August 30, 1923, in Pauline, SC, he was the son of the late Virgil Dean West, Sr. and Corrine Brown West, and the husband of the late Mary Sherbert West. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. West was retired from Reeves Brothers with over 40 years of service. Virgil loved his family and his home place in Pauline, but also loved to travel. He possessed and enjoyed the ability to "fix most anything". Surviving are his children, Marvin Russell West and Gail West Davis (Ken), all of Spartanburg, SC, Dianne West Price (Jim) of Duluth, GA, and Michael Dean West (Denise) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Rob Davis (Amanda) of Fort Mill, SC, Greg Davis (Julie) of Moore, SC, Marc Davis (Jane Courtney) of Jacksonville, FL, Brian Amstutz (Lane) of Marietta, GA, Jeff Amstutz of Minneapolis, MN, Amber Ezell (Jason) of Gaffney, SC, and Christopher West of Boiling Springs, SC; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna West of Lake Bowen, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Mack West and Marvin West; and six sisters, Madeline Lambright, Birdie McCullough, Louise Hodge, Margaret Treadway, June Cline, and Doris West. Visitation will be 1:45-2:45 PM Saturday, February 28, 2015, in the sanctuary at Philadelphia Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Greg Butler. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church, 3119 Highway 56, Pauline, SC 29374.
