Viola Lee

Viola Owens Lee, 103, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born October 16, 1915, in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Alexander Owens and Hester Collins Owens and widow of Boyce Turner Lee Sr. Faithful to her Lord and family, Mrs. Lee was a member of Golightly United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was instrumental in the relocation of the church from Camp Croft to its present location. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as Order of the Amaranth and retired from Bell Laundry after 25 years of service. Survivors include her son Boyce Lee Jr.; brothers, Claude Owens and Lee W. Owens; sister, Mildred Ruff, all of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Meldora Harmon and her husband, Erwin Harmon; and daughter-in-law, Brenda K. Lee. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, August 16, 2019, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Marvin Crowe. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Golightly United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2000 Hwy 56, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
