Verle Elizabeth Thomas Burwell, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at White Oak Estates. Born May 31, 1928, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Basil A. Thomas Sr. and Grace Stephens Thomas, and widow of Jack Oliver Burwell, Sr. Survivors include her children, Judy Burwell Martin of Spartanburg, SC, Jack Oliver Burwell Jr. (Margaret) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Thomas P. Burwell of Spartanburg, SC, Timothy H. Burwell (Lisa) of Boone, NC, and Jonathan D. Burwell of Spartanburg, SC; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 7:00-8:30 PM Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 S.
