Vera Estelle Israel Strange, 87, formerly of Summer Place Assisted Living, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum. Born April 8, 1922, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Willis and Esther V. Blanton Israel and the wife of the late Leroy Strange. She was retired from Andrews Bearing and was of the Methodist faith. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra L. Weathers and husband James, and Vikki S. Varn and husband Randy, all of Boiling Springs; three sons, Joseph B. Strange of Marietta, GA, Glenn R. Strange of Lake Wylie, NC, and Niel B. Strange and wife Diann of Inman; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Strange of Boiling Springs; a brother, Dr. Boyd H. Israel of Albany, GA; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Juanita Easler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2009, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel conducted by the Rev. Don Moore. The family will receive friends following the service at the Chapel. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park. The family is at the home of her daughter, Sandra Weathers, 110 Panorama Drive, Boiling Springs.
