Vera Greene Hutchins, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born November 19, 1927, and raised in the Whitney community, she was the daughter of the late Vaughn and Beulah Holder Greene. She was married for 48 years to the late John "Johnny" Edward Hutchins. Mrs. Hutchins enjoyed listening to country and gospel music. She was a member of Whitney United Methodist Church and retired from Whitney Manufacturing. Surviving are her daughters, Lucille Dunagan (Mickey) of Boiling Springs, SC and Peggy Solesbee of Spartanburg, SC; son, Jerry Hutchins (friend, Ann) of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren, Tim Shytles, Tammy McDonald, Tina Griffith, and Kelly Lister; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Cecil Gossett. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ann Hutchins; and brothers, Robert, Roy, and Marvin Greene. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Charles Hall. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
