Vera I. Folden, 96, of Spartanburg, died at home, Wednesday, October 10, 2012, after a long illness. She was one of four children, born March 26, 1916, in Akron, Ohio to the late Alfred and Crystal Roos. Mrs. Folden loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also passionate about serving as an American Red Cross Volunteer upon moving to Spartanburg in 1962. Her faithful service as a volunteer for over 35 years led to her receiving the Jefferson Award for Public Service in 1995. Her husband, John, to whom she was married for 75 years, predeceased her by two months. Mrs. Folden leaves one son, John Richard, his wife, Rebecca, and one grandson, Jonathan Michael, all from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She has two surviving brothers, Alfred Roos of Severn, Maryland and Delno Roos of Akron, Ohio. Her brother, Richard Roos, predeceased her. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, October 15, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A memorial service will be held next week in Akron, Ohio.
