Velma Willard Brown, 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, August 07, 2018, at Lakewood Senior Living. Born June 2, 1928, in Winston Salem, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jay Marvin and Margrette Belle Tucker Willard and wife of the late George William "Bill" Brown. Mrs. Brown worked as a sales clerk at Sears, Roebuck and Company and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was in the ladies Circle group and taught Sunday School. Survivors include her children, Stewart Deane Brown of Spartanburg, SC, William Grant Brown (Sandra) of Woodruff, SC, Cynthia Brown Overcash (Edward) of Spartanburg, SC and Bunny Brown McKown of Chesnee, SC; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Vonda Ray, and brothers, Zeno Willard, Odell Willard, Darrell Willard, and Elbert Willard. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Lakewood Senior Living, 3709 Clark Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, conducted by the Rev. Julie Schaaf. The family will receive friends prior to the service. Burial will be 3:00 PM in Grace Lower Stone Church Cemetery, 2405 Lower Stone Church Road, Rockwell, NC 28138. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 880 W. O. Ezell Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
