V. Brannon

Volney Robert Brannon, 79, of 2137 Boiling Springs Road, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at his residence. Born January 28, 1931, in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late James Volney and Myrtle Jackson Brannon and the husband of Dr. Virginia Hines Brannon. Mr. Brannon was a television and electronics technician, was a U. S. Army veteran, and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Dr. Virginia Hines Brannon, he is survived by his three sons, Robert Dale Brannon and wife, Janice, of Simpsonville, SC, Richard Earl Brannon and wife, Aleana of Boiling Springs, SC, and Dwain Harold Brannon and wife, Denise, of Ponce Inlet, FL; his daughter, Robin Ann Brannon of Boiling Springs, SC; his two sisters, Geneva Brannon of Inman, SC and Helen Bragg of Boiling Springs, SC; his six grandchildren, Shelley Cantrell, Lori Story, Jason Brannon, Russell Brannon, Lisa Schrum and Lindsay Brannon; and his 7 great-grandchildren. Mr. Brannon was predeceased by his two brothers, Herbert and Leonard Brannon. Visitation will be held 1:00-2:45 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2010 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Charlie Glover, the Rev. Keith Davis, and the Rev. Charles Hall. Burial, with military honors, will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park. In remembrance of Mr. Brannon, flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Special Needs Fund, 120 Heywood Avenue, Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or to one's favorite charity.
