Troy Lester Beaty, 83, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at his home. Born August 15, 1927, in Gastonia, NC, he was the son of the late William "Willie" and Effie Harvey Beaty. Mr. Beaty was a U. S. Marine veteran of World War II and served in the National Guard for 30 years. He retired from R. D. Anderson Vocational School and was a member of Park Hills First Church of God "Lifespring". He shared his love for his Lord and church by serving in many areas of the church. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret Cox Beaty of the home; daughters, Patricia Beaty (Dan) Webster of Surrency, GA, Susan Beaty (Jim) Bost of Edisto Island, SC, Kathy Beaty (Wendell) Stacy of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Mary Jane Beaty Geisel of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Mark Webster, Danny Ray Ponder, B. J. Ponder, Shana Stacy, Becky Isom, Samantha Clubb, and Jessica Clubb; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Grady (Ann) Beaty of Fairforest and Boyce Beaty of Arcadia; sisters, Fairlene Beaty (Frank) Underwood of Spartanburg and Julia Beaty of Arcadia; and a brother-in-law, Lewis McDade of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Beaty; a sister, Margaret McDade; a sister-in-law, Norma Tincey Beaty; and an infant grandson, Raymond Clubb III. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by Pastor Tony Didway, Pastor Angela Didway, and Dr. Delbert Tangeman. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. A special thank you is extended to Jenni Sherbert, and to caregivers, Cyndi, Kathy, and the staff of Hospice Compassus for their loving care during Troy's last year with Alzheimer's.
