Tommy E. Johnson, a remarkable individual known for his infectious smile and unwavering optimism, passed away on August 28, 2023, in Augusta, GA. Born on June 5, 1955, in Spartanburg, SC to the late, Thomas E. Johnson and Betty Cooper Vaughn.  

Tommy was a true miracle of God. He miraculously survived a tragic accident while serving his country in the Navy. His unwavering determination and resilience were evident throughout his life. Despite the challenges he faced, Tommy always wore a contagious smile that brightened the lives of those around him.

Educated at Dorman High School, Tommy graduated proudly as a member of the class of 1973. He had a deep passion for basketball and eagerly looked forward to March Madness every year.


In addition to his love for basketball, Tommy was also devoted to his military service. He served in the U.S. Navy in Okinawa with great honor and dedication. His commitment to protecting his country was admirable and showcased his selflessness.

Tommy's warm personality touched the lives of countless people. His extensive network of friends and acquaintances is a testament to the impact he had on others. He was genuinely interested in everyone he met and formed lasting connections wherever he went.

Survived by his loving siblings Linda Orr of Spartanburg, SC; Wanda J. Swinney (Larry) of Boiling Springs; Donna Warlick of Spartanburg; Darryl Johnson of Asheville, NC; and Renee Johnson of Rockland, Maine, Tommy leaves behind cherished memories in their hearts. His extended family also loved him dearly and will forever treasure the bond they shared.

With his departure from this world, we bid farewell to a beloved son, brother, friend, and patriot.
