Tommy Gilmer, Sr.

Tommy Wayne Gilmer Sr., 75, of Pacolet, beloved husband of Audrey Worthy Gilmer and loving father of Tommy Wayne Jr. and Susan Gilmer Harrell, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at his home. Born March 29, 1937, in Spartanburg County, he was the only son of the late Robert Lee and Myrtle Mae Spurling Gilmer. Tommy worked as a builder most of his life, but retired March 29, 1999 from the town of Pacolet Mills Water Works. He was a member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church were he had served as a deacon. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by his grandchildren, Kristen Harrell, Olivia Gilmer, Annelise Gilmer, Michelle Gregory, and Zach Harrell; great-grandson, Jeremy Cabrera; sisters, Marchellan Burnett of Fairmont, Chyleen Fowler of Drayton, Sally Grice of Spartanburg, and Rhonda Horne of Cowpens. He was predeceased by a sister, Kay Dillard. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, by the Rev. Joe Burnett and the Rev. Norman Band. Visitation will follow at the Chapel. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens.
