Timothy Welker

Timothy W. Welker, 62, of 112 Buckstone Lane, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 4, 1947, in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Ted and Jewel Scism Welker. A graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College, he was retired from Beresford Box; and after retirement, he served as the wine director for the Oakland House. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Linda Starnes Toms; two sisters, Cathy Blackwell and her husband, Ted of Spartanburg, and Amy Eskew and her husband, Phillip of Campobello; a sister-in-law, Carol Clarkson and her husband Dr. Stuart Clarkson of Tamassee, SC; and two nephews, Evan Eskew of Campobello, and Bradford Young of Orlando, FL. A Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at the Oakland House, 168 Oakland Avenue, Spartanburg.
