Thurman Wood

Thurman L. Wood, 79, of Spartanburg, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at his home. Born May 21, 1931 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Joe H. and Grace Painter Wood and the husband of the late June H. Wood. He was first married to the late Mildred Casey Wood. He was owner/operator of Wood's Service Center, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a volunteer driver for Disabled American Veterans, and a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. Survivors include two daughters, Renee W. Johnson and husband Steve and Tina W. Ford and husband Doug; a son, Lanny Wood; a sister, Valrey Cudd; four grandchildren, Cliff, Steven, Sam, and James; and one great-grandchild, Kolbie. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Scott Linnerud. Burial will be at Heritage Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Boulevard, Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or to Calvary Baptist Church, 577 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
