Thomas Walsh Iii

Thomas Emmet Walsh III, 62, died Monday, October 28, 2013 after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was the beloved husband of Sara Owens Walsh. T, as he was known, was the son of the late Thomas Emmet Walsh Jr. and Mary Lynch Wentling Walsh. He was born on July 24, 1951 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Darlington School, Wofford College, and a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church. His career included positions at Spartanburg Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Andrews Bearing , Siemens Energy & Automation, Tietex International, and Wellco Enterprises. T was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and Sara fell in love in the 8th grade at Evans Junior High School and remained inseparable. They marked 40 years of marriage this year. T is survived by his wife, Sara; his daughter, Kathryn Walsh Windsor; his son, Thomas Emmet Walsh IV, "TJ", and his wife Kathleen; a granddaughter, Ella Kathryn Windsor; and two grandsons, Thomas Emmet Walsh V and Luke Robert Walsh. He is also survived by three sisters, Marilyn W. Walsh (Ed Laskarzewski) of Glastonbury, CT, Joanne W. Babin (Edward) and Natalie W. Bishop of Nashville, TN; three brothers, William Walsh (Winnie), Marshall Walsh (Debbie), and David Walsh (Diane); and his close friend, Karl Caughman of Knoxville, TN. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, by the Rev. David E. Nichols and the Rev. David B. Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
