Thomas Howard Keim, Sr., 71, of Spartanburg, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home following a courageous and inspirational battle with lung disease. Born October 2, 1940, in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late George Robert and Opal Canterbury Keim. Mr. Keim was retired from Lowe's with 20 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. The Church and its ministers were instrumental in Mr. Keim's faith and his spiritual walk. Surviving are his wife, Betty Eaddy Keim; sons, Thomas H. Keim, Jr. and wife Suzanne, Stephen Clay Keim and wife Rebecca, and James Scott Keim and wife Nancy, all of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Ellis Wilson Keim, Thomas H. Keim, III, Sarah Frances Keim, Stephen Clay Keim, Jr., James Scott "Jake" Keim, Jr., and Bryce Alexander Keim; brother, George Steven Keim of Sanford, FL; and sister-in-law, Linda Eaddy Gramling of Orangeburg, SC. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert F. Keim. Mr. Keim's passions in life revolved around his constant companion and wife of 51 years, his sons and grandchildren. Affectionately known as "Dude" by his grandchildren and many others, Mr. Keim enjoyed supporting his family at a variety of sporting events and outdoor activities. He always enjoyed fishing and teaching others the finer points of fishing. Mr. Keim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Davis Chapel of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, by the Rev. Sal Barone.
