Thomas Randolph "Randy" Hendley, 55, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Gibbs Cancer Center after a brief illness. Mr. Hendley was born in Spartanburg, July 13, 1956, to the late Thomas A. and Gail E. Hendley. He was a grandson of the late V. O. and Doris Smith Hendley and the late Wilton and Sara Edge. He was raised by his Hendley grandparents and by an aunt, Doris Hendley Claffy and her husband the late Leonard R. Claffy. Educated in Spartanburg and Greenville schools, Randy graduated from Wade Hampton High School and attended North Greenville University. He then resided and worked in Texas until 1993. Randy loved country music and played the guitar for many years. He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Survivors are a sister, Elizabeth Hendley Shropshier; niece, Ivy E. Shropshier; and aunt, Susan E. Dickerson, all of Columbia, SC. Several aunts and cousins live in the Upstate and have shared in the care of Randy since 1993. A cryptside service will be conducted by the Rev. Patricia McCain on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
