Thomas Heaney’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Thomas passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at home at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with cancer. His life was well lived and he was well loved! This passionate, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by his wife and best friend of 22 years Tracey (Fogleman) and his children, Briggs (Sarah), Prentice (Brian), Meredith (Bill). He is a proud grandfather to Matthew, Brielle, Dallas, Colton, Haven, Roen, and Kelin.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut then living in Brooklyn, NY, Rahway, NJ, Bradly Beach, NJ, Contoocook NH, Meredith, NH, St. Thomas, USVI, Brandon, VT, Nantucket, MA, Jupiter Island, FL, Landrum, SC, and finally residing in Greer, South Carolina.
Thomas spent his life working passionately in many careers. He started his employment years as a conductor on the Pennsylvania Railroad alongside his father. He then went on to work in the clothing business. He worked for Brooks Brothers, Burberry, and Pincus Brothers Maxwell before becoming the owner along with his wife of The Galleria Salon and Day Spa in Laconia, NH. He then went to work for the Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas, USVI. He and Tracey then purchased a Bed and Breakfast in Brandon, VT then ultimately Thomas wound up as a private chef for the founder of The Yankee Candle Company.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Julia. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Hroch, and brothers, Patrick (Louise), and Robert (Lana). He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephew, great nieces, great nephew, and many friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Saeeda Chowdhury, Susan Funk NP, Dr. Larry Gluck, and the entire team at Prisma Health Cancer Institute. The family is sincerely thankful to the wonderful staff at The Hospice & Palliative Care Palmetto Region who comforted and cared for him in his last days.
Thomas will be forever be remembered for his colorful clothing, beautiful smile, caring heart, passion for cycling, passion for cooking, ability to not meet a stranger, engaging personality and most of all his LOVE OF LIFE.
Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.
All are welcome to attend his funeral celebration at Mountain Hill Community Church, Landrum, SC 29356 on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
