Thomas "Tom" M. Griffin, 95, of 1049 Maryland Avenue, died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born August 23, 1914 in White Stone, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas and Laura Brown Griffin and husband of the late Lila Thompson Griffin. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, retired from Costal States of Atlanta, GA, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church, was a Mason, and served as a volunteer at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Julia Griffin Ervin and husband David; two sons, Jim Griffin, and Randy Griffin and fiance Debra; a special friend, Bessie Wilson all of Spartanburg; three granddaughters, Lisa Wolfe, of Duncan, Sharyn Walker and husband Kenny of Boiling Springs, Julia Parker and husband Marty of Spartanburg; four grandsons, Lee Metz and wife Courtney of Charleston, Jay Griffin and wife Pam of Spartanburg, Joey Griffin and wife Aimee of Spartanburg, Brian Griffin and wife Heather of Spartanburg; Corey Griffin of Charleston, and Joshua Griffin of Chesnee; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Eleanor McMillan of Wellford and Catherine Howard of Union. He was predeceased by three brothers, Dorsey Griffin, Roy Griffin, and James Griffin; a sister, Helen Wilkins; and a daughter-in-law, Tish Griffin. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 A.M. Monday, August 9, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Doug Gilliand, the Rev. Donald O'Dell, and the Rev. David Ervin. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. The family is at the home of his daughter, Judy Ervin, 1049 Maryland Avenue, Spartanburg.
