Thomas Gilmer Sr.

Thomas F. "Frank" Gilmer, Sr., 94, lifelong resident of Glendale, SC, died Monday, November 30, 2015, at White Oak Estates-Spartanburg. Born October 9, 1921, he was the son of the late Herbert Franklin and Sallie Lee Gilmer and husband of the late Marjorie Sprouse Gilmer. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A U. S. Army Air Corps veteran, Mr. Gilmer attended Spartanburg High School and was a member of Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist Church. He retired from Draper Corporation and formerly operated Penny and Frank's Garage. Survivors include three sons, Barry S. Gilmer (Judy), Franky Gilmer (Emily), and Terry B. Gilmer (Deborah), all of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Mac Kinnett and the Rev. Brian Gilmer. Visitation will follow the service at the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 3450 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staff at Webber Road-White Oak Estates for their care and compassion. The family is at their respective homes.
