Thomas Doyle, Jr.

Thomas McNeal Doyle Jr., 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at White Oak Manor. Born October 8, 1930, in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Thomas McNeal Doyle Sr. and Stella Thaxton Doyle. A U. S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Doyle was a PGA lifetime member for almost 50 years. He was a golf school teacher and one of the first pros to teach at Ben Sutton's Golf School, also Craft-Zavichas Golf School for 20 years or more. A graduate of Memphis State University, he was also an avid sports fan, former school teacher, and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Bradford Doyle; daughters, Cindy D. Jondahl (Joe) of Norman, OK, Lorna D. Carter (Randy) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Merry D. Nichols (Frank) of West Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Peck of Memphis, TN. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Thomas M. Doyle III "Macky". Visitation will be 12:00-1:45 PM Monday, October 21, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frank E. Lybrand and the Rev. Keith Taylor. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
