Theresa "Terrie" Kilgore Ball, 63, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, December 29, 2014, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born June 11, 1951, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Samuel Rea Kilgore and Barbara Nix Kilgore. Mrs. Ball was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Her formal education consisted of the Education Specialist degree in Student Personnel Services from Appalachian State University in 1985, the Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance in Secondary Education from the University of South Carolina in 1984, and in 1972 received the Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College, Columbia, SC. In 2010 she accepted a position with Spartanburg Methodist College as a student counselor and faculty member, where she served until her illness. She had previously served as a psychotherapist with Carolina Counseling in Spartanburg, as the Director of Converse II, and as the Associate Director and Counselor of The Career and Personal Counseling Center in Clinton, SC. Terrie was a National Certified Counselor, and SC Licensed Professional Counselor. She was also a member of the American Counseling Association, South Carolina Counseling Association, and International Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She has served as a board member for AWARE, the Mental Health Association of the Piedmont, Family Care Council, and SOAR. Throughout her professional, family, and personal life, Terrie touched the lives of so many with her genuine love and concern for others. She continued to be a loving wife and mother, in spite of years of serious health issues. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, B. Terrell Ball; son, William Alexander "Alex" Ball, U. S. Navy, Norfolk, VA, serving on the George H. W. Bush aircraft carrier; brother, John Abit Kilgore (Sue) of Greensboro, NC; and sister, Barbara Elizabeth Kilgore Levine (Fred) of Charleston, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Samuel "Bo" Rea Kilgore, Jr. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, January 2, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 626 Norwood St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. A. Mickey Fisher. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
