Theodore Williamson Jr.

Theodore "Ted" Williamson, Jr., 88, of Moore, SC, died suddenly on Friday, August 14, 2015. Born, December 16, 1926, in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Theodore Williamson Sr. and Dorothy Williamson. Mr. Williamson earned his Master's Degree from the Institute of Textile Technology in Textile Engineering. He was a retired textile executive who had held various executive positions at major textile companies throughout the Southeast. Ted bravely served his country in the U. S. Army in the Pacific theatre during WWII and was proud to be part of "The Greatest Generation". He was a member of Nazareth Presbyterian Church. Dearly loved by all, survivors include his wife, Deanna Williamson; children, Donna MacAleer (fiancé, William Edwards), Theodore Williamson III (Tina), Lynn Asensio (Mike) and Melissa Matthews (Jeremy); and four grandchildren, William Gause IV, Matthew Asensio, Theodore Asensio, and Ella Matthews. Ted was also a stepfather to Dana Preston (Butch) and Shawn Suttles and Papa Ted to Leighane, Tiffany, Cameron, Alia, Zoey, and Dominick. Ted loved his family and loved to fly. He never met a stranger and loved to tell colorful stories about the trials and tribulations of everyday life. An avid pilot, logging over 10,000 hours in flight, he was one of the oldest licensed pilots in SC. He was selfless and often used his plane to help others in times of need. Ted was active and enjoyed life to the end. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Mark Matthews. Visitation will follow the service in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
