Thelma "Mickie" Wilkins, 86, formerly of Kasler Road, Cowpens, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Magnolias of Gaffney. Born August 12, 1922, in Rock Hill, SC, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence R. and Pearl Shera Mickle and the wife of the late John W. Wilkins. A graduate of Winthrop College, she was a former home economics teacher at Cowpens High School and Broome High School until her retirement. She was active in her community and her church, Salem United Methodist. Survivors include a daughter, Beth Cooper and her husband Pearson of Cowpens; a son, Johnny Wilkins and his wife Deborah of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Lindsey Wilkins and Brittney Marler; three grandsons, J. P., Andrew, and Adam Cooper; and four sisters, Ethel Mickle, Flora Baker, Eva Hutchinson, and Grace Tinkler, all of Rock Hill. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Salem United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Angelia P. Price. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the committal service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 160, Cowpens, SC 29330.
