Thelma Ann Westmoreland Garrett, 71, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born February 8, 1940, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Hovie Jeff and Nell Thompson Westmoreland. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of eight. Mrs. Garrett was a member of Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist Church and the J. G. Huggins Sunday School Class. Survivors include her loving husband Maxie Perry Garrett; daughter, Sherri Garrett Barker and husband Dean of Spartanburg; son, Maxie Perry Garrett, Jr. and his special friend Jana Rankin of Roebuck; grandchildren, Pamela Garrett of the home, Cassie Butts of Spartanburg, and Bradley Barker of Spartanburg. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 PM Friday, January 13, 2012, in Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist Church sanctuary. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Gilliland and the Rev. David Ervin. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
