Thelma Brown

Thelma Garner Brown, 98, of Pacolet, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at White Oak Estates-Spartanburg. Born December 22, 1914, in Cherokee County, SC, she was the widow of Troy Brown and daughter of the late Earl Kendrick and Mildred Foster Garner. Mrs. Brown was retired from Pacolet Mills, a graduate of Pacolet High School, a member of Browns Chapel Baptist Church in Pacolet Mills and a former Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include her children, Raymond Earl Brown (Mary W.) of Roebuck, and Joyce Brown Sexton (Jim) of Pacolet, SC; grandchildren, Harold David Brown Jr., Jeff Sexton, George Brown, Cathy Sater, and Susan Pople; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a much loved daughter-in-law, Brenda Brown of Jonesville, SC; brothers, Ralph Garner of Gaffney, SC, and Harold Garner of Pacolet, SC; sisters, Jettie Hughes, Faye Pridmore, and Ann Peeler, all of Gaffney, SC, and June Black of New Ellington, SC. She was predeceased by a son, Harold David Brown Sr.; brothers Ledley, Ray, Roy, and Boyd Garner; and a sister, Ruby Lowry. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, by the Rev. Dennis Tessnier. Visitation will follow the service at the chapel. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 110 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
