Thelma Appleby

Thelma Appleby 81, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loved ones, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 21, 1942, in Envigado, Colombia to the late Francis and Judith Ramirez- Appleby. 

In the early 1980’s Thelma moved from Colombia to the United States where she began her carrer in Hospitality. Thelma was a woman of many passions. She found joy in sewing, admiring nature, watching birds and butterflies, playing cards with her sisters, caring for her beloved dog Maggie May, showcasing her culinary skills in the kitchen, and cherishing moments spent with her family and being a "Bola" to her granddaughters.

She is survived by a son; John Appleby (Charlotte); Three granddaughters; Kaylee Appleby, Rachel Appleby, and Isabella Appleby, Sisters; Ada Appleby, Edna Wallace (Bill), and Elsie Appleby-Fernandez (Horacio); as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many friends. Thelma was predeceased by her father, Francis Appleby, her mother Judith Ramirez-Appleby, Sisters; Eileen Appleby and May Appleby, and one brother; Teddy Appleby. 

A Celebration of Thelma's life will be honored on Friday February 23, 2024. The visitation will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel 2075 E. Main Street Spartanburg, SC 29307. Followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. The interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens 1300 Fernwood-Glendate Road Spartanburg, SC 29307 starting at 4:00 PM. 

Thelma Appleby will always be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice House 686 Jeff Davis Drive Spartanburg, SC 29303.
