Thell Jones

Thell Wayne Jones, 88, of Inman, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Born January 22, 1924, in Anson, TX, he was the husband of the late Myrtle McCurry Lipscomb Jones and son of the late Andrew Jackson and Georgia Cox Jones. A veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II, Mr. Jones served in the Pacific Theater. He retired as a mechanic from Burwell Chevrolet after 25 years of service. After retirement he owned and operated his own garage, was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, a Mason and Hejaz Shriner member of Cowpens Lodge No. 210. Surviving are his daughter, Gloria Sasser of Boiling Springs, SC; grandson, Richard W. Pascoe of San Diego, CA; great-granddaughters, Madison Pascoe and Julia Pascoe; step-son, Keith Rowland Lipscomb of Spartanburg, SC; and step-grandsons, Mike Sasser of Greensboro, NC, Ronnie Sasser of Bear Creek, NC, and Jeffrey Sasser of Nashville, TN. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Allen Jones; grandson, Marty Pascoe; sister, Emma Jean Greer; brother, Osborne F. Jones; and stepdaughter, Janice Lipscomb. A graveside service with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 25, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Dr. John Howle.
