Ted Seaford Overcash, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, November 6, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Ted was cared for at home by his family and Comfort Keepers caregivers. Born March 24, 1939 in Kannapolis, NC, he was the son of the late Carl and Ruby Overcash.
Mr. Overcash was a chemist and worked in the Greenville and Spartanburg areas. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School where he played trumpet in the band, then went on to Furman University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He retired from Hoechst Celanese in 2006.
Ted enjoyed golf, ballroom dancing, Scotch, card games and taking cruises. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle, and a “Sharp-Dressed Man.”
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Cooper Overcash of the home; his sister, Alice Tarleton (Aubrey); and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews; and a great-great niece. He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Harris.
Visitation will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm at the Mausoleum, conducted by Father Rob Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 101 St. Matthews Lane, Spartanburg, SC 29301 or Traditions Health Hospice Spartanburg, 115 Southport Road, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
