Ted Coker

October 5, 1920 — March 29, 2015

Ted William Coker, 94, of Goose Creek, SC, formerly of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Hospice of Charleston. Born October 5, 1920, in Florence County, SC, he was the son of the late Clyde L. and Bertha Jordon Coker, and husband of the late Genelle McBee Coker. Mr. Coker was in the 8th Air Force, 361st Fighter Group, serving in Belgium, France, and England, for the duration of World War II. He worked for Lockheed Martin for 34 years before retiring, loved wood-working, and watching airplanes. He was also a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are his daughter, Susan Coker Cothran; granddaughter, Legina Ledbetter Conley; grandsons, Ted Cothran and Chadwick Powell; great-grandchildren, Hunter Thomas Conley and Melissa Keeva Cothran. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Connie Coker Powell; and a grandson, Collin Powell. Visitation will be at 11:00 - 11:45 AM Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Norris. Private entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex.
