Tawana Elaine Silvey

Tawana Elaine McGarity Silvey, 83, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Spartanburg Medical Center.  She was born March 30, 1940, in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Lynn David and Helen Grace VeHaun McGarity.  She was married to the late Donald Webster Silvey. 

A member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Roebuck, SC, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, AWANA leader and choir member.  She was a very talented craftsperson and was a member of the SC Ceramics Association. 

Surviving are her children, Michael Anthony Silvey of Spartanburg, Ronda Silvey King of Pauline, and Andy Silvey of Pauline; her 3 grandsons, Donald Andre Silvey (Catherine) of Pauline, Jeremy King of Simpsonville, and Blake King of Pauline; her great-grandson, Jaxon Andre Silvey; and her sisters, Glenda McGarity Melton of Spartanburg, Lynn McGarity Turner of Inman, Myra McGarity Ellisor and Debbie McGarity Belue of Spartanburg.  She was predeceased by siblings, Ronald McGarity and Terrie McGarity Rogers. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00-2:45 pm Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.  Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joe Burnett.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
