Sybil Terry

Sybil Mabry Terry, 89, of Spartanburg, SC died Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Summit Hills. Born June 14, 1933 in Aquadale, NC, she was the daughter of the late Harvey W. and Ludie Smith Mabry and the wife of the late Billy Terry for 66 years.

Sybil was graduated from Limestone College and Presbyterian Hospital Nursing School in Charlotte, NC. She was retired as Director of Nurses at the former Hilltop Nursing Home. Sybil was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a Stephen Minister, was very involved in the Ladies Church Circle, and loved the “Wednesday Supper” meetings. Sybil was a wonderful cook who passed her culinary skills on to her two granddaughters.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Terry Standridge of Crystal Beach, TX; her son, John E. Terry (Christina) of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughters, Alden Dalton (Christopher) of Columbia, SC and Melanie Kinsey (Brant) of Honolulu, HI; and her sister, Gwen Donner of Simpsonville, SC. She was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Mabry.

A Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by The Rev. Joanne Hull. Visitation will follow in the Perrin Room. A private committal will be held.
