Sybil Atkins Thomas, 76, of Spartanburg, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at Magnolia Place. Born November 19, 1933, in Campobello, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ivo and Exie Smith Atkins. A 1952 graduate of Spartanburg High School, she was retired from Equifax Credit Bureau after 30 years of service. She was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church and a nursery teacher for 19 years. Survivors include her husband, Calvin E. Thomas; a son, Stanley C. Thomas of the home; a daughter, Laura Thomas Outler and husband Hugh of Sugar Hill, GA; four grandchildren, Lane Outler and wife Laura, Brooke Outler Lee, Dylan Thomas, and Morgan Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Chase Lee, Gavin Outler, and Landon Outler; two sisters, Virgie Blackwell of Spartanburg, and Josephine Phillips of North Carolina; and a brother, Ralph Atkins of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Duncan and Lucille Higgins; and two brothers, Marvin Atkins and Harrell Atkins. Visitation will be 6:00-8:30 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, in Sunset Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. Rupert Guest.
