Suzanne Wilson Padgett, 68, of Chapin, died Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia. A native of Chester, she was a daughter of the late John William Lawrence and Margaret Faye Wilson.
Suzanne was an assistant schoolteacher and a stay-at-home Mom. An active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, she was a member of the WMU. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star-Glendale Chapter 175 and had served as a Worthy Matron. An avid reader and gardener, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She attended Winthrop College and USC-Spartanburg.
She is survived by her husband, James (Jim) M. Padgett, I.; her son, James M. “Jim” Padgett, II (Katie) of Spartanburg; her daughters, Grayson Padgett of Spartanburg and Kathryn Padgett of Snellville, Ga; her three grandchildren, Jim Padgett III (19) of Spartanburg, Carter Padgett (12) and Ellison Padgett (3), both of the home; and her brother; Tim Wilson of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by three siblings, Bunny Wilson, Michael Wilson and Sandra Wilson.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2817 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm, in the church, conducted by the Rev. Keith Davis. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church Missons, the WMU or to the church building Fund.
