Suzanne Carol Dale

Suzanne Dale passed away peacefully at the Summits Hill Assisted Living Facility in Spartanburg, SC on September 16, 2024, where she had been an active resident since 2019. She was 89 years old. Sue was born in Bay City, MI in 1934, the only daughter and child of the late Harry and Elizabeth Diton.

She attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA where she met and married her husband of 60+ years, John Dale, in August 1955. They were to spend the bulk of their years together in New England and South Carolina raising 2 sons, Michael and Richard, in loving family homes and sailing the beautiful coastal Atlantic waters in the summer.

Sue was an amazing mother and friend to so many. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and strong, independent spirit...someone who loved and lived life fully, enjoying the simple pleasures found in a good book, her gardening, or conversation over a cup of coffee. She was a fabulous cook, too, and always made family get-togethers and the holidays extra special for everyone. Her wonderful artistic flair was evident in the beautiful homes she kept, and she loved and cherished her family with her all.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, John, in the summer of 2016.

In addition to her sons, Michael (MD in Gaffney, SC) and Richard (Fort Walton Beach, FL), Sue is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rochelle, 2 granddaughters, Kimmy and Kayla, and her great-granddaughter, Ellie, who shares the very same twinkle in her eye.

Sue was so loved and admired by her family and friends alike and will be dearly missed, but we are all comforted in knowing she walks with the angels today and that her boundless love and smile will be with us always!
