Susan Kilgore Judd, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, after a resilient battle with cancer. Born August 22, 1948, in Anniston, AL, she was the daughter of the late James and Frances (Meadows) Kilgore. Susan was a teacher for over 40 years between Birmingham, AL and Spartanburg, SC schools but spent most of her time as a Fourth Grade teacher at Pine Street School (PSS). She fought for her students and others to receive the best education for the specific individual and truly loved every student that came into her class. She loved to teach, but she mostly loved the beach, her friends and family, and Alabama football. She was a lady, always smiling and full of light and never took herself too seriously. She was a joy to be around and a treasure of a friend. Surviving are her two brothers, Rick Kilgore and Jim Kilgore; a daughter, Frances Dove, son-in-law, Alex Dove, and loving grandchildren, Dylan and Molly; as well as a wealth of friends in the Spartanburg community and beyond. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, John Kilgore. A service honoring her memory will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by The Rev. Joanne Hull. Visitation will follow in the Purnell Room. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hub City Animal Project, 168 West Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or the Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, PO Box 1582, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
