Stephen L. Willard, 94, of Spartanburg, died Friday, November 15, 2013, at Dillon Pointe. Born February 11, 1919, in Warriors Mark, PA, he was the son of the late Rev. William Wardener Willard and Helen Cynthia Young Willard. He earned a B.A. degree at Junaita College in Huntingdon, PA and an M.A. degree at Columbia University in New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where he was a choir member. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Neff Willard; sons, Michael Stephen Willard of the Charles Lea Center in Spartanburg and Timothy Alan Willard (Cynthia Tracy) of Kensington, MD; granddaughters, Ester Willard of Waldorf, MD and Laura Lamonia (Kevin) of Bethesda, MD; grandson, Joseph Willard (Tina) of Irvine, CA; great-grandson, Vincent Lamonia of Bethesda, MD; and great-granddaughter, Zoe Willard of Irvine, CA. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. David B. Smith.
