Stephen Luther Stancil, 52, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at his home. Born June 10, 1963, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of William Luther Stancil and Lela Palmer Stancil of Spartanburg, SC. He was the beloved husband of Teresa Morgan Stancil for 33 years. A graduate of Dorman High School, Stephen attended Greenville Technical College, USC Upstate, and Fruitland Bible College. He was a member of Duncan First Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, Bible study facilitator, former youth Sunday School teacher, and church youth basketball coach. He was also employed as the District Leader for Hardees Food Systems. He leaves a legacy of a servant's heart that inspires the faith of family and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his son, David L. Stancil (Stephanie) of Duncan, SC; daughter, Steffanie S. Wofford (Adam) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Jonathan Luther Stancil, Juliana Grace Stancil, and Marina Phillips; and brother, Scott Stancil of Spartanburg, SC. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Friday, March 25, 2016, at Duncan First Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. David Stancil and Dr. Scott Stancil. Burial will be in Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Rd., Moore, SC 29369. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duncan First Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 103 East Main Street, Duncan, SC 29334; or Lyman First Baptist Church Global Missions Offering, 80 Groce Road, Lyman, SC 29365.
