Stephen Parris

Stephen "Steve" Anthony Parris, 69, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at his home. Born November 11, 1948, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Ralph Hazle Parris and Doris Cannon Parris. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Mr. Parris was a teacher at USC-Upstate and a real estate agent. He was also employed in Public Relations at Converse College and Lockwood Greene Engineers. Steve was an avid reader, guitarist, and pencil artist. He was a member and former deacon at Morningside Baptist Church where he was also involved in the ESOL Ministries. Survivors include his children, Jason Allen Parris (Daniella) of Istanbul, Turkey, David Cannon Parris (Kelly) of Spartanburg, SC, Stephen Anthony Parris Jr. (Clara) of Atlanta, GA, and Erin Parris Page (Tim) of Spartanburg, SC; the mother of his children, Janice Tisdale Parris; grandchildren, Lucian Parris, Walker Parris, Ellis Page, Anna Page, Miriam Page, Luke Page, and Parks Parris; and brother, David R. Parris (Charlotte) of Greer, SC. A service honoring his memory will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, May 4, 2018, at Morningside Baptist Church, by The Rev. Steven Owensby and The Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Visitation will follow the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ESOL Ministry, c/o Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
