Stephen Michael Mallis

Stephen Michael Mallis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on January 17, 2025, at the age of 80 in Spartanburg SC. Born on April 8, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Stephen lived a life full of hard work, dedication, and love for those around him.

Stephen’s career was firmly rooted in the bustling Garment District of New York City, where he owned and operated a successful distribution company. His leadership and entrepreneurial spirit in this family business left a lasting impact, and his passion for his work inspired all who knew him. 

Stephen is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Dennis Mallis, who shared countless cherished moments with him over the past 34 years. He was a proud father to Darren Mallis, Brandon Mallis, and Justin Mallis, as well as a loving stepfather to James Johnson and Joshua Johnson. Stephen also welcomed daughters-in-law into the family, each of whom he adored and cherished. His 11 grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy, and his two beloved Cockapoos, Ollie and Otis Mallis, were his loyal companions. 

Stephen is also survived by his brother, Harvey Mallis, his sister, Joyce Mallis, and a lifetime of close friends who enriched his journey. His extended family, including many nieces and nephews, holds fond memories of his humor, wisdom, and warmth.

Stephen will be remembered for his sharp wit, steadfast determination, and unwavering love for his family. His absence is deeply felt, and he will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. 

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Stephen’s memory to the Gibbs Cancer Center at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. 

Rest in peace, Stephen. You will remain forever in our hearts.
