Stella Louise Sprouse Harmon, 95, of Spartanburg, formerly of 149 Sloans Grove Road, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Born in the Cedar Springs community on December 24, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Winfield and Mary Elizabeth Balkcum Sprouse. She was the wife of the late Coke Edwin Harmon for 54 years. Mrs. Harmon had been a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church for 70 years. She was the last charter member of the now inactive See Saw Squares Dance Club. Mrs. Harmon was a weaver in local textile plants for over 25 years, senior claims clerk for United Insurance Company of America for 12 years, and in 1982, became a Certified Nursing Assistant caring for a multitude of patients in the hospital, their homes, and assisted living facilities. Mrs. Harmon is survived by a son, Robert Wayne Harmon, and his wife, Nancy; a grandson, John Clay Harmon, and his wife, Audrey, and two beloved great granddaughters, all of Spartanburg. Mrs. Harmon was pre-deceased by five brothers, Herbert, Elbert, Astor, Paul, and Charlie Sprouse. A private graveside funeral was held on Monday, October 16, 2017, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Keith Davis. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Mountainview Nursing Home for the loving care given to their mother over the past years.
