Starr Simmons

Starr Puckett Simmons, 66, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Magnolia Manor-Inman. Born December 2, 1949, in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Dannie LeFord Puckett and Mildred Dawson. Starr was a teacher for Spartanburg School District 3 where she taught for over 20 years. She was a graduate of Greensboro College Class of 1972 and received her Master's Degree from Converse College. A member of Mitchell Memorial Presbyterian Church, she was also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, enjoyed arts and crafts, and loved photography. Surviving are her daughter, Caroline Yarbrough (Daniel) of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Isabella and Kennedy; aunt, Evelyn Boswell of Peoria, IL; and cousins, Jeannie Boswell and William Boswell, Jr. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 13, 2015, in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will be at the graveside.
