Stanley Ray Cannon, Sr., 88, of Inman, SC, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born July 10, 1928, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Arthur and Daisy Smith Cannon and last surviving member of his immediate family. A Sgt. Major and 32 year veteran of the SC National Guard, Mr. Cannon retired from Liberty Life Insurance after 23 years of service. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, former chairman of the deacons, and a Gideon. Survivors include his daughter, Carol Cannon Lee (Mason) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Thomas Andrew Cannon (Jennifer Bolton) of Boiling Springs, SC, and Lori Catherine Lee of Spartanburg, SC. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Jennings Cannon; son, Stanley R. "Buddy" Cannon; and granddaughter, Donna Michelle Lee. A visitation celebration of friends and family will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, October 27, 2016 at New Prospect Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 9321 Hwy 9, Inman, SC 29349. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, October 28, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Matthew Bishop and the Rev. Bill Harris. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
