Shirley Cox Wright

Mrs. Shirley Cox Wright, 87, of Pacolet, SC, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on December 5, 1935, to Charles Lee. and Ethel Mae Cook Cox and was married to the late John H. Wright.

Shirley attended school in Chesnee and went on to marry her soulmate, John. She was a homemaker and was passionate about motherhood and she never turned away from an opportunity to feed children. She was a member of Morningstar Baptist Church of Pacolet.

She and John had three children, Vickie Lynn, Toni Lorraine and John Russell (Rusty). Family was incredibly important to Shirley and her dedication as a mother and wife was effortless. Shirley moved to Union in 2021 after her health declined and resided with her daughter, Toni and husband, Bruce. She enjoyed coloring, gardening and her favorite of all pastimes was spending time with Toni’s dog, Baby-Bear.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by many siblings, her husband and most sadly her son, John Russell Wright.

She is survived by her children, Toni Wright Keisler (Bruce) of Union, Vickie Wright Perkins (Don) of Floral City, FL., three grandchildren, Bruce Keisler (Anna) of Marietta, GA., Mindy Simmons (Zack) of Enoree and Julia Bashline (Nick) of FL; one step-grandchild, Jennifer Huntington (E.J.) of Union; a brother, Thomas Cox (Enna) of Fort Worth, TX.

She will be forever missed but resides now in the hands of Jesus, pain free at last. We love you, Mama!
