Shirley O’Shields Crook, 91, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Eden Terrace. A native of Spartanburg, she was born on January 19, 1933, a daughter of the late Alfred Aiken, Sr. and Gertrude Smith O’Shields and the wife of the late Edward (Ed) Cullen Crook.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and retired administrative assistant to the superintendent of Spartanburg School District Six and a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg.
Surviving are her sons, Jim Crook (Sherri) and Mike Crook (Luanne); grandchildren, Brandon Crook (Jessica), Coleman Crook (Brittney), Grant Crook (Nichole), Michael Crook (Hannah) and Ivey Crook Moyer (Zane); great grandchildren, Safia Crook, Davina Crook, Ridge Crook, Emma Crook and Micah Crook; sister, Martha Horton. She was predeceased by two grandsons, Chad Crook and Cullen Crook: her siblings, Alfred A. O’Shields, Jr., Elaine Moore, Bert Hodge and Sam O’Shields.
Graveside services will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Britt Dillard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or to Interim Health Care Hospice, 16 Hyland Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
