Shirley Meek

Shirley Marie Rice Meek, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital-ER. Born July 24, 1925, in Malvern, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence E. Rice and Nora Bernice Palmer Rice. Mrs. Meek was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and former member of Central United Methodist Church. Surviving is her loving husband of 64 years, Sherman Edward Meek; sons, Larry O. Meek (Marie) of LaPorte, TX, Del K. Meek (Deborah) of Roswell, GA, and Martin E. Meek of Enoree, SC; daughter, Carla G. Bailey of Drayton, SC; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Beverly J. Holly of Eufaula, OK. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 25, 2014, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, by Rev. Frank Lybrand. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family is at the home.
