II Timothy 4:7 Shirley Jean Powell Thomason McCraw, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, passed on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Shirley was born June 27, 1934, in Spartanburg County, to the late R. J. and Lillian C. Powell. She was brought up in Beaumont Mills and was proud of it. Shirley was the wife of the late M. D. "Dude" McCraw and the late Cecil J. Thomason. Shirley was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church and The "Big" Women's Bible Class. She was a nursery worker for many years and a member of The Golden Circle. She loved sports and was a member of the Beaumont Girls Softball Team that won the State Championship in 1947 or 1948. Shirley graduated from Spartanburg High School Class of 1953. She had many friends that she cherished so much. She retired from Top Value Enterprise and also from Carolina Textiles, a division of Spartan and Beaumont Mills. Survivors include her sons and their wives, Hal & Tracy Thomason, Regi & Hailey Thomason, all of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Christy and Donnie Cantrell, Jessica and Nick Neves, Ashley Thomason, Abby Thomason, Tylar and Jarad Thomason; great-grandchildren, Brittyn Cantrell, Rhylea and Wesley Neves; brothers, Jimmy Powell of Spartanburg, SC, and Randall & Merry Powell of Richmond, VA; sister, Carol & Walter Greene of Chesnee, SC; and special niece, Mitzi Townsend of Tennessee. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a son, Eric Thomason; and a sister, Barbara Gossett. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 3, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. John Cox, the Rev. Rupert Guest, and the Rev. Steven McLain. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
