Shirley Whelchel McCravy, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, was granted a quiet and gentle death on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Spartanburg, SC. May she rest in peace; may she rise in glory; may the Lord comfort those who grieve. Mrs. McCravy was born in Gaffney, SC, to the late Roland and Bertha Whiten Whelchel. She lived in Spartanburg and retired from Beaumont Mills. She was the secretary/treasurer for many years and lifetime member of Beaumont United Methodist Church. Mrs. McCravy is survived by her daughters, Beverly M. Brown and husband, Cleve, of Hartwell, GA and Karen M. Ketner and husband, John, of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Danielle E. Green and husband, Patrick, of Smyrna, GA, Joshua C. Emory and wife, Meredith, of Smyrna, GA, and Kimberly G. Ketner and fiancé, Patrick F. Ellis, of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandchildren, Emory Caroline Green and "P. J." Patrick Franklin Ellis, Jr.; her sister, Vernice M. Bell of Spartanburg, SC; and brother, Eugene Whelchel and wife, Donna, of Sparks, NV. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bynum McCravy; brothers, Roland Whelchel Jr. and Donald Whelchel; and sisters, Elsie Broome and Afrie Gaffney. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, August 31, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Darrell C. McNeill.
