Shirley Dyer

Shirley Yelton Dyer, 84, of Spartanburg, SC died Friday, April 23, 2021 at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community. Born May 14, 1936 in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Pantha Taylor Yelton and the widow of Donald “Don” Robert Dyer.

Shirley was a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a member of the Love Sunday School class. She retired from First Federal Bank after 35 years of service.

Survivors include her daughter, Melanie McGehee (Andy) of West Columbia, SC and her grandson, Ian McGehee. She was also predeceased by her brothers, The Rev. James Yelton and Alvin Tracy Yelton.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 28. 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Father James Fraser Lyon, IV and The Rev. Danny Garrett. Visitation will follow at the graveside.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Church of the Good Shepherd Music Ministry, 1512 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

Mrs. Dyer will be available for viewing at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday, April 26, 2021 and Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
